MultiPlate MP200-corrugated steel structures have been used in civil construction for more than 100 years. The first use of such structures was in North America and Russia, where the idea of using these structures in road and railway construction was born.
Today, underground flexible structures are used in construction all over the world. Structures are often referred to as «flexible» structures because of the way they work.
Working on the principle of «ground-metal» means that corrugated metal structures interact with the surrounding ground for the perception and transmission of loads. They are quite light, economical and easy to assemble. The average installation time using a small team is several days.
MultiPlate MP200 structures are used on roads, Railways, industrial and civil construction as:
culvert;
bridges;
overpasses;
tunnels
underground pedestrian crossings;
crossings for animals;
shelter;
storage facilities;
case of belt conveyors;
protective covers for heating lines;
storage container;
hangars, etc.
aaduki;
The construction sequence consists of:
Foundation construction;
delivery of the structure to the object;
assemblies;
backfill;
finishing work.
The MultiPlate MP200 designs have many advantages:
simple design;
easy and fast Assembly;
possibility of installation at temperatures below zero;
possibility of mounting the structure without stopping traffic;
the ability to preview and pre-Assembly design;
due to the light weight of the corrugated plates it is possible to deliver them to separate and inaccessible places;
reducing the cost and timing of construction and installation work on the construction of the structure.
The production process of the structure includes mechanical forming of a flat sheet with giving it a final corrugated shape followed by hot-dip galvanizing.
The steel used for the production Of multiplate MP 200 structures complies with STB EN 10149 «hot rolled flat products made of steel with a high yield point for changing shape in cold conditions» and STB EN 10025 «hot rolled products made of structural steel»
Steel grades used: S235JR, S355J2 or S355MC. The yield strength of steel is 255 MPa and 355 MPa. The thickness of the steel can be from 3.0 to 8.0 mm.
Corrosion protection of structures consists of:
— hot-dip galvanizing of steel plates and additional elements.
— epoxy coating of galvanized plates (if required).
To ensure good adhesion to the treated surface, to set the necessary strength and elasticity, paint coatings are applied in special conditions (inside closed rooms with controlled temperature and humidity). Compliance with the technological regime is crucial for the quality of anti-corrosion treatment.
Design.
The design process includes the following steps:
choosing the shape of the cross section of the structure
ground clip design;
Foundation design;
design of the input / output end face;
design of additional elements (lighting, etc.).
The MultiPlate MP 200 designs are designed for all load classes in accordance with national standards. They also meet the requirements of AASHTO (USA) and CHBDC (Canada) and other standards.
Multiplate MP200 structures can be equipped with additional elements depending on the functional purpose:
various boxes for lighting devices;
ventilation pipes;
different niche;
technical holes;
connecting pipe;
other element.
MultiPlate MP200 structures are often used for repairing old bridges and other structures where it is not possible to build a new one. This method is called «Casing». The corrugated steel structure is placed inside the existing structure and the space between the old structure and the new one is filled with concrete. This method allows you to restore the load-bearing characteristics of artificial structures without any traffic stops and allows you to avoid expensive measures to demolish the old structure and install a new one in its place.
